Bio

Enabling viewers to look beyond the obvious in each of her portraits is the charge of Tiffani Glenn, an emerging artist building a foundation for greater notoriety and success. Glenn executes most of her work by using different mediums such as acrylics, oils, pastels, or pen and ink. Through paintings and illustrations of stylized caricatures with exaggerated statuesque forms and identities, Glenn is embarked upon a creative journey recognizing perseverance is the only pathway.

Glenn draws upon her own worldview as a woman, as well as her formal education in media arts and animation, to generate a body of work filled with energy and range. Today, Glenn finds solace in creating images viewers often find profoundly familiar; reflections of oneself on canvas or paper with a distinctive and whimsical point of view.

Using vibrant colors in her paintings and fanciful lines in her illustrations to set the tone and tenor of each piece, Glenn portrays mostly Black women overcoming adversity, exuding self-love, acceptance, confidence, and empowerment in each artistic work. Still, her mission is to develop bodacious images that come across as proud and inspiring while embracing an individual diversity and difference.

Artist Statement

The works I create are from things I see every day. I see Black women that are on the rise to overcome many stereotypes and adversities. I also see Black women that are still struggling to embrace their features such as full lips and kinky/coily hair. I want to embrace and capture those exact features in my work to let them know that they are beautiful and worth loving. I want people to see these images in a positive light. I enjoy creating stylized images of women who have a look of confidence about them. I find this important because in life we are not always naturally confident in ourselves. However, within the images I create, I have the ability to make the women appear naturally confident in hopes that this feeling will also translate to the viewer. My goal is for people to know and understand that self-love is important and you don't have to live by what society’s standards of beauty are. My work will always be created with an attempt to inspire women to feel confident and empowered by nonconformity and self-acceptance.
