Alexa Karabin creates artworks that explore themes of natural history, historical occurrence, memory, and cycles. She is inspired by her surroundings, living on 10 acres of forested area in West Michigan. Her works strives to be personal and contemplative. Her materials are found and handmade—her most precious materials are her grandmother’s antique jewelry that she crushes to make handmade watercolors.
Alexa Karabin received her Master of Fine Arts degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (2011), where she studied Print Media and Painting. She has exhibited internationally, and her work is in private collections around the world.
