Statement

Tim Fowler is an artist whose practice revolves around an exploration of migratory plants originating from the Caribbean and Africa, brought to various regions through the transatlantic slave trade. This has developed into a broader interest in botanical subject matter. Fowler's distinctive and recognisable style is characterised by his brilliant and harmonious colour palette, predominantly featuring bright pinks and blue hues. Striving for balance within his palette, he skillfully combines these vivid tones, creating a visual language that evokes a sense of dynamism and energy in his artworks.

In his creative process, Fowler employs a variety of mediums including acrylic, oil, spray paint, pastel, and graphite. This multifaceted approach allows him to experiment with different textures and techniques, enabling a rich and layered expression of his artistic concepts. With a penchant for working on large-scale canvases, Fowler immerses himself in the physicality of his creations, allowing for a profound engagement between the viewer and the artwork.

Through his vibrant and expressive portrayals of plants, Fowler aims to highlight the complex interplay between nature, history, and cultural identity. By intertwining these botanical subjects with his distinctive colour palette, he invites viewers to reflect upon the beauty, resilience, and historical context of these plants.

Fowler's artistry goes beyond capturing mere visual aesthetics; it serves as a platform for dialogue, exploration, and contemplation. With each stroke of the brush or application of colour, he invites viewers to embark on a visual journey that celebrates the intersection of nature, history, and personal expression. In doing so, Fowler's artworks become a testament to the enduring power of art to evoke emotions, provoke thoughts, and foster a deeper understanding of our world.
