Keren Toledano is a writer and self-taught abstract painter living and working in New York City. She finds inspiration in the least likely places, like drive-in theaters and old lighthouses--places seemingly forgotten by time. She is currently undertaking the design and renovation of a Brooklyn factory with her sister, which she hopes will be a welcome addition to an historic neighborhood with a commitment to the arts.

She received her BA in English from Harvard, and an MA in Arts & Humanities Education from NYU, with a focus on dissent in modern Chinese art. She thinks it makes sense for a writer to find passion in the painterly arts. Both art forms are instinctive expressions which beg the artist, not to make, but to find the order inherent in chaos.
