I create paintings to understand what elements lend a feeling of familiarity and permanence to a physical place. Be it people, community, natural environment, or possessions, I seek to explore what makes a place embody the feeling of home. The variety of these defining elements of home has drawn me to embark on a personal study of how to establish continuity during a period of rebuilding, and understand my own relationship to physical objects and spaces.
