Artist Statement

T’Keyah Ware was born in Port Augusta in 2002 but spent her early years in Ceduna on the west coast of South Australia. T’keyah’s great Grandmother Millie Taylor (nee Lennon – Deceased) and mother are the inspiration behind all the amazing paintings and stories that T’keyah creates. T’keyah learned how to dot paint when she was 15 years old by her mum, who showed her how to create a painting using different designed, stories, techniques, styles, and how to blend colors to create her own paintings that shows her family’s and great grandmothers’ journey across country hunting and gathering traditional food to survive off the land.

T’keyah enjoys painting with her mother and sisters at home and wants to keep learning and growing into a successful artist, carrying on her family’s cultural tradition, and continuing to produced more beautiful pieces for many years to come.

T’keyah’s style of dot painting, which she calls creeper dots, is spread out over the canvas in multiple colors to give her painting an eye-catching effect that makes her artworks exquisite, culturally significant, and breathtaking.
