Creativity and self-expression are critical—they improve mood, boost self-esteem, and can change the world. But sometimes, the wellspring of creativity requires a recharge.

Omega Arts Retreat

An arts retreat offers a sanctuary for individuals to immerse themselves fully in their creative pursuits, providing a space free from the distractions and demands of everyday life. By temporarily escaping the sometimes frenetic pace of daily routines, participants can reconnect with their artistic passions and delve deeply into their craft without interruption.

This uninterrupted time allows for a deepening of creative exploration, providing the opportunity to experiment with new techniques, ideas, and mediums in a supportive and nurturing environment. Whether it's painting, writing, music, or any other form of artistic expression, an arts retreat offers the freedom and space to fully engage with one's creativity and unlock new levels of inspiration and innovation.

Gathering with other artists also fosters a sense of community and connection among participants. Through collaborative projects, group discussions, and shared experiences, retreat participants engage in meaningful dialogue, exchange ideas, and offer support and encouragement to one another.

This sense of community not only enhances the creative process, but also provides a source of inspiration, motivation, and camaraderie that can be deeply enriching and empowering. Whether collaborating on a group mural, sharing feedback on a written piece, or simply engaging in stimulating conversations over shared meals, participants benefit from the sense of belonging and solidarity that comes from being part of a creative community.

Artist Retreat Omega Institute

Omega Institute is a welcoming haven where artists and creative souls celebrate creative expression with workshops, performances, and craft. For more than 40 years, creatives have flocked to learn and discover in a safe and welcoming environment surrounded by the beauty of Omega’s 250-acre campus in Rhinebeck, New York.

Omega’s annual Arts Week, a popular gathering since 1995, is a creative community led by visionary artists of all kinds offering workshops in painting, music, writing, dance, and more. All are welcome, from the budding to the accomplished artist.

In addition to Arts Week (June 30-July 5), Omega offers workshops for artists throughout its on-campus season, which starts in mid-May and continues through October. Among the 2024 workshops:

  • Paint Your Inner Sacred Feminine Self-Portrait: Discover the divine feminine within yourself and learn to project this reflection onto the canvas with intuitive painter Jo Jayson.
  • Path of the Butterfly: Explore your creative vision and experiment with a variety of art forms and spiritual practices with artist Suzi K. Edwards.
  • SoulCollage Exploration: Unlock your inner wisdom through SoulCollage®, a creative process blending imagination and images as a path to self-discovery.
  • Mixed Media Drawing: Move beyond intimidation to make friends with drawing and explore new ways of expressing yourself with visual artist Jane Davies.
  • Visual Storytelling: Create painted, sequenced visual narratives in book or flat form using the ancient medium of encaustic with artist Leslie Giuliani.
  • Painting Happiness: Harness the power of your creativity with visual artist, curator, and gallery director C. Finley.

Omega’s arts retreats offer a holistic approach to well-being by recognizing the interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit in the creative process.
