Dutch illustrator Bodil Jane creates irresistible, flat patterns filled with delicious colors in her scenes of confident women. In her illustrations, women are free to inhabit their own space, especially in her series appropriately titled ā€œGIRLBO$$.ā€ The Girlboss illustrations, which includes a successful business woman working next to her pet leopard, allow you to actually wear them, as they are available as scarfs! Janeā€™s work expresses elements of fashion and interior design, as her work never lacks in incredible pattern design whether it is adorned on the clothes of the women, or spread across the wallpaper in the background. The artist's love of plant life comes through in her work, with lush, leafy flora living in almost all of her illustrations. The brilliant thing about Jane's work is that she has made them available in so many amazing forms in her online shop. Not just on scarfs, her animal illustrations exist also on ceramic plates, while others can be found in poster form, allowing us to have a bit of her patterns across our own walls.

Bodile Jane studied illustration at the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam, and now lives and works in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. She has done work for clients such as Apartment Therapy, Readerā€™s Digest, and The New Yorker. Make sure to check out her website where she has a fantastic video showing a glimpse of her process in her studio.
